A reusable content and design system that increased engagement while reducing production time
Overview:
CI-Group needed a scalable bi-weekly newsletter for their client Etherio that could promote seasonal merchandise without redesigning every issue from scratch.
I designed a modular newsletter system that combined reusable layouts, structured content planning, and consistent brand guidelines to streamline production, improve collaboration, and increase engagement.
The Challenge
Before this project, merchandise was shared through one-off sales emails with attached product images. Without a consistent format or content strategy, communications varied from send to send and required significant manual effort. The team needed a scalable system that would showcase products professionally while streamlining production.
The Solution
Instead of designing individual newsletters, I designed the system behind them.
I developed a modular template built around reusable content blocks—including hero products, supporting merchandise, promotional messaging, educational content, and featured products that allowed new editions to be assembled quickly while maintaining a consistent visual language.
Alongside the template, I created a centralized product database that tracked inventory, previous newsletter placements, seasonal opportunities, and performance notes, giving the team a single source of truth for planning future campaigns.
Design System:
Layout Modules

Hero Section
Seasonal campaign messaging, featured
product, and consistent visual hierarchy

Data Callout
Reusable module that paired compelling
statistics with clean typography

Product Grid
Images can be swapped for each campaign
while maintaining a cohesive layout

A consistent typographic hierarchy establishes a clear reading path from headline to supporting copy, featured products, and key statistics. Thoughtful spacing and modular layouts improve readability while creating a cohesive experience across every edition.
Content Strategy
Beyond the visual design, the newsletter was structured to support merchandising and purchasing decisions.
Key elements included:
Benefit-driven product messaging
Seasonal campaign themes
Promotional urgency
Product value positioning
Clear calls to action
Operational Improvements
The previous process relied on individual sales emails with attached product images, requiring each communication to be built from scratch. I introduced a centralized content library and reusable newsletter template that transformed one-off outreach into a structured, repeatable marketing system.

AFTER:
Results:
Transformed ad hoc sales emails into a structured, repeatable newsletter system
Streamlined production with reusable templates and modular content
Improved collaboration through a centralized product management system
Increased consistency across bi-weekly communications
Reduced manual effort required to create each campaign
Enabled faster seasonal merchandising and product promotions
Client Impact:
The new system transformed merchandise communications from one-off sales emails into a polished marketing asset. CI-Group adopted the newsletter as its standard communication format, while Etherio responded positively to the elevated presentation and began exploring higher-end promotional products that had previously been difficult to showcase.
